The souvenir sheet was issued by CITYKURIER, a mail service company for the area that comprises the territory of the former German Democratic Republic. Manfred Gottschall was a leading stamp designer in the GDR and - after the re-unification - in GER; in January 2012 he celebrated his 75th birthday. 1000 souvenir sheets depicting GDR stamps designed by him were printed. The stamps from the sheet are valid for postage in the CITYKURIER territory.
