The Match des Quatre Nations 1953 was a rowing contest between BEL, FRA, ITA, and SUI |
It was the Belgian Federation of Rowing Clubs that took the initiative to found FISA. On the 21st July 1891 it proposed the setting up of an international union of rowing clubs at a congress at Brussels. The congress members agreed to define the amateur oarsman and decided to meet again at Turin in the following year to draw up an international racing code. FISA's birthday is the 25th June 1892. |
