The Detroit Boat Club was founded in 1839. It is the oldest rowing club in the U.S.A. and the second oldest continuosly operating rowing club in the world. During the first 60 years of its history the club built three wooden boat- houses which all burnt to the ground. The image shows the fourth boathouse which has withstood fire till today. |
