PC GER Berlin-Gruenau - Sport monument at Gruenau regatta course (PU 1902)
|
|
The German emperor Wilhelm II. promoted rowing to a great extend. In 1898 a large monument was erected in his honor at the 1000-m mark of the Gruenau regatta course. It consisted mainly of boulders engraved with the names of various German rowing clubs. The monument was demolished in 1973 by the GDR authorities who did not want to preserve it. |
